Charity CardsThere are now an increasing number of Credit Cards on offer which provide support for a charity of your choice. The Co-op Bank, MBNA, and the Bank of Scotland are popular charity Issuers. Almost every major charity in the UK is now represented by our flexible friends, an example being the RSPCA Credit Card. The majority of these cards work by offering a designated charity a flat fee for every card application, and then an on-going percentage of all purchases made. As a general rule-of-thumb, charities gain approximately 25p for every £100 spent on a charity card. This means that £10,000 would have to be spent using a charity Credit Card to provide a £25 donation. As most people spend substantially less than £10,000 each year on a Credit Card, this is a slow and roundabout method of making charitable donations. One of the key advantages of Charity Cards, however, is that they allow each charity to gain exposure every time you use your card. In this sense, charities benefit greatly as they receive free, nationwide marketing.
