Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are saved on your computer by a website that you visit.

Cookies are most commonly used to save information, such as your user preferences, so that the website doesn't have to ask you for them again each time you visit.

Many shopping carts will use Cookies to "remember" the items that have been added to the cart as the user browses the site. As it is possible to block Cookies it is a good idea if your shopping cart software has a backup method in place for when it is not able to save data in this way.

Cookies that expire the next time the browser is closed are referred to as session Cookies. Those that last longer are known as persistant Cookies.
