Pre-authorisation

Pre-authorisation is an option provided by some Payment Service Providers in which the authoristion of credit and Debit Cards takes place seperately to the actual transfer of funds. Funds are only actually debited from the customers account when the Transaction is manually confirmed.

Pre-authorisation is generally used either when goods will not be despatched immediately or when additional time is required to perform manual fraud checks.
